IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
Although the aging of our skin is a complex biological process, there are two main causes: chronological aging — the effect of time on our bodies; and photo-aging — the effect of the sun’s harmful rays.
As we grow older, the amount of collagen, the major supporting protein of the body, diminishes. In addition, the skin becomes less flexible. This means that our skin becomes drier and thinner as the body’s natural regeneration process slows down, and the skin slowly loses its ability to retain moisture. These effects are further compounded by the harmful UVA and UVB rays in sunlight.
AlluraDerm MD Med Spa offers Omnilux phototherapy. This delivers a totally natural method of light-only skin rejuvenation which uses the body’s own natural processes to help counteract the effects of aging. It stimulates cells involved in repair of the skin and increases blood flow. It also enhances the effectiveness of other skin treatments. It is used after microdermabrasion, facial peels, laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy, reducing the side effects and speeding up the time your tissue takes to regenerate. Omnilux can also be used in combination with your regular facial treatments and with injections such as BOTOX®, Restylane® and other fillers, helping to maintain the effect of the treatment. After the course of treatments have finished you will still see an improvement in tone, clarity and skin smoothness. You will also see softening of your fine lines and wrinkles. This is a very effective treatment for both men and women of any age. It is non-invasive and easy to perform.
The IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) ProLite II erases skin damage without disrupting the skin’s surface and simultaneously treats a wide range of facial problems improving the texture and complexion of the skin. Skin imperfections treated include:
- Red spider veins
- Rosacea
- Age spots and liver spots
- Scar coloration
- Flushing and redness
- Poikiloderma (red neck)
- Pigmented lesions
- Sun damage spot
Large areas, such as whole faces, hands, necks, shoulders and backs may be treated. Treatments, which typically are provided in a series of sessions at two-week intervals, are virtually painless. Patients can resume normal activities immediately. To maintain long-lasting improvement, follow-up care may include maintenance sessions. The results are permanent, but skin continues to age with time. A good skin regimen will help slow the appearance of aging skin and sun damage.
